Here at Acrylicize we’re getting pretty accustomed to handling random materials…
Playing with multiples of Lego men, Playing Cards, Dice, Ketchup bottles, and Tomato seeds has become almost common practice. Unsurprising therefore, that we barely bat an eyelid at the arrival of 2500 Cotton Reels to our Shoreditch Headquarters and some 1700 metres of Satin Cord.
Our client, Lida, is a digital and direct marketing agency. They focus on “Creating Better Customer Connections between brands and consumers”. With a fabulous logo encompassing their letters wrapped up with reams of blue cotton – this provided perfect inspiration for us. (Not just literally in terms of materials, but also in the context of its representation). Both pieces had to symbolise the notion of connectivity, as well as colour and vibrancy.
Fast forward to last Saturday, when most people are out shopping, lunching or taking the kids to football matches. The Acrylicize Team turned up at their Soho offices and set about handling thousands of cotton reels and hundreds of strands of satin cord. All, (of course) in the name of art!
First of two feature walls was the Aztec piece using the strategically positioned multi-coloured cotton reels. The symmetrical design drawing inspiration from Aztec patterns.
The second piece was to be the main focal point of their office. White 1.5m high letters spelling out “LIDA” were positioned on the wall, each letter studded with hundreds of nails. Each nail was then adorned with several strands of multi-coloured shimmering satin cord creating a giant network of coloured connections.
It’s so great to work with a company like Lida; eager to flaunt their creativity and to express the embodiment of the company’s values through artistic expression. We’re thrilled we could be a part of that process…
